Facebook Opt-Out Policy Changes
First, as a refresher, opting-out of Facebook means we, as a site, will make an effort NOT to post threads started by you. We make no guarantees that your content will not end up on Facebook, but will make an effort to avoid it. On 03/28/2011 we are resetting our opt-out for Facebook. If you want to opt-out after the reset, you will need to send an email to facebookoptout@therpf.com with the subject "Facebook Opt-Out." Within the email, clearly state your board name and that you wish to opt-out of having your threads posted to Facebook. While we are providing the opt-out option as a perk to our members, we would like you to seriously consider what opting-out means to the site. Membership here on the RPF is free. We provide the service as well as sponsor contests, parties and other events as much as we can. Our ability to do so greatly depends on the traffic this site receives. That traffic primary comes from search engines, but a growing percentage comes from social media sites like Facebook. When we post something cool to Facebook it attracts new members who in turn participate and strengthen our community as well as help attract even more fans of props, costumes and models. By opting-out of Facebook you are essentially saying you want to use the service we provide freely but don't want to support the site in return. Please keep this in mind when deciding whether or not you want to opt-out. It is not a decision to be taken lightly. |
