Ultramarine - Human sized

Thats right folks. as much as I fell in love with the Space wolves and Lehman Russ back in 1992, in order for this costume to work, I think I would need to choose a more recognizable Chapter.

So heres a TEST, ill say it again, TEST left lower leg and knee. Pretty sure the version 2 will be a bit bulkier. but it works for now...

thoughts?

and no that is not a SM boot. its from Gear of War, just to see what it looked like.

Personally, the Space Wolves are my favorite chapter, so I say go with what you like the most. But, that leg is looking good so far, keep us posted with your progress.

I was thinking of something else, then I realized that SM was probably short for Space Marine. You know where my mind is.

Great progress so far!

Re: Ultramarine - Human sized

progress....

def. think i need to move the shoulders further out. fix the knees, and possibly see if i can make the chest come out a bit more...seemed to work with the smaller shoulders... but not anymore.

suggestions welcome and asking for honest ones at that. dont have to be nice.

Re: Ultramarine - Human sized

Late comer to the thread. I too love the Space Wolves and agree with the geniepants. Go with the chapter you love. The space wolves are probably as recognizable as the ultramarines to any 40k gamer.

But back to your costume. Love the work you have dome so far. However, I agree with your comments. To make the costume more marine like, you need broader shoulders and a thicker chest. But not only that. I think the chest piece needs to taper downwards to your stomach area.

Looking at your costume, one starts to realise how truly deformed the GW miniatures, specifically the marines.

This is freaking AWESOME!

I love 40k builds and cannot wait to see the finished product. What is the weight like on this?

Re: Ultramarine - Human sized

Bigger chest looks heaps better. Did you move the shoulder pads out more as well? If not, would doing that allow you to bulk the chest out just a little more?

Looks awesome none the less. How are you going to approach the helmet? And which helmet? The classic beakie or the newer gas ,ask type?

Re: Ultramarine - Human sized

For some reason, I am reminded of that upper torso piece seen in the old 40k game "Final Liberation". This is off to a great start and I can't wait to see the final product. I was a real big fan of the Ultramarines in another 40k game "Chaos Gate".

Yeah, 40k miniatures are not known for their scale consistency, but they are exaggerated for good reasons. Nothing says "futuristic" like big beefy gunz wit MOR' DAKKA!

I always though that those Space Marine costumes were way too bulky, this one is turning out to be almost perfectly proprtioned. Well done so far keep it going

it's not too late to change it to a Chaos Marine.... mwahahah
