Little bump for some daft-related progress.

Glove parts came in Monday. Did a quick mock up on my junk gloves (new ones coming soon!) and they look great. This is .060 vac-formed styrene, for those who need a refresher.

did you finish them (sand or prime) before sending them to the platers or were the pulls that smooth?

The platers didn't have to do any finishing to them, and neither did I - thats the raw styrene pull without any further sanding/priming/finishing. I'm pretty happy with my E-Z-Bake vacuum-former!

Sorry I'm coming into this thread so late but my coworker actually designed and built the electronics in the original helmets. He's been asked about making extremely expensive replicas for sale but I'm not sure if that'll ever get off the ground.

Nice work on the replica!

Hey, I'm following Volpins method to make this helmet...

So far I have done the first layer (cardboard as per The basics of cardboard helmets (tutorial) - Cosplay.com),

Then I did the expanding foam and carved it.

I put air-drying clay on after that and have just covered it in car repair fibre glass.

You can get away with using Facebook - what you need to do is upload the image there, go to the page for the image and then right click on it and select "view image" and use the new URL that comes up with only the picture.

Indeed. Not that I mind people posting their stuff on this thread, but it is more for my build-up of the helmet than a general "all DP helmets" thread.
